It was in 1967 when I took portrait photographs of Bruno Bruni and Sigrid Rothe, his partner at the time, for the magazine ELEGANTE WELT.
For some decades after that we used to meet regularly at CUNEO, our favorite Italian restaurant in the Hamburg Kiez district.
Bruno Bruni is not only an extremely versatile artist but also an excellent cook.
In 2005 he asked Helga and me to illustrate his very first cookery book. We had the idea of combining his recipes and his art – his publisher’s notion of simply taking photographs of his dishes was not an option for us.

In the competition for the world’s best cookery books in 2006, the print edition was awarded 3rd prize.

GAUMENFREUDEN UND KUNSTGENUSS / 2005

1967 porträtierte ich Bruno Bruni und seine damalige Lebensgefährtin Sigrid Rothe für das Magazin ELEGANTE WELT.
Wir trafen uns danach jahrzehntelang bei unserem liebsten Italiener CUNEO auf dem Hamburger Kiez.
Bruno Bruni ist nicht nur ein vielseitiger Künstler, er ist auch ein hervorragender Koch. 2005 bat er Helga und mich sein erstes Kochbuch zu illustrieren.
Unsere Idee war, seine Rezepte mit seiner Kunst zu kombinieren - abfotografierte Tellergerichte, die sich sein Verleger vorstellte, kamen nicht in Frage!

Das gedruckte Buch belegte 2006 den 3. Platz unter den weltweit besten Kochbüchern...
